Our Story
WSR traces its roots back to a small two-man partnership between John Plocher and Stan Rapp who decided to open up a real estate brokerage in 1982. Then after less than a year, partner Mr. Rapp had a massive stroke leaving John Plocher to make the go with assistance from his father, a retired USAF colonel as his only agent.
The 80’s brought much expansion and depth to WSR. Many agents, assistants and staff were added to accommodate a burgeoning property management division which took flight at the end of the decade. Diversification was key to the company’s survival after the economic downturn of the early 90’s took its toll.
Although the 90’s brought its fair share of challenges it also brought with it much room for opportunity. Property management of rentals and Homeowner’s Associations carried the company through what was a disastrous time for other real estate firms. WSR’s clients couldn’t sell their homes for what they owed BUT, they could rent them. Many of the clients WSR serviced during this time have remained clients, even to this day.
WSR Maintenance was born during this time, in an effort to better service the booming property management portfolios of the company. With techs trained in nearly every aspect of residential construction from HVAC work to plumbing to window replacement, WSR Maintenance brought with it the ability to truly be a one-stop shop for its clients.
Real estate is cyclical and although WSR enjoyed much prosperity during the early part of the 21st Century, history was destined to repeat itself. Remembering the hard lessons of the 90’s John Plocher and WSR developed another division, WSR Preservation, in 2006. A division that began with less than four employees has turned into a large state-wide venture with nearly one hundred employees and presence in over half the counties in California.
Today, WSR enjoys steady growth and a reputation unparalleled in the region. With 30 years under its belt, over 700 homes rehabbed and 650 SFR’s under management, WSR is poised to continue to be the leader in property management and residential real estate investment in California.
